Obsession, Corruption, Revenge: Attend the Tale....
"Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," 1979's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, is a rare theatrical event: a heart-pounding thriller told with a howlingly sharp wit, a darkly comic smile, and one of Broadway's most impressive scores. Join the inmates of Fogg's Asylum as they delve in to the macabre, twisted world of Sweeney Todd. Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's masterpiece is the chilling tale of barber-ism and culinary crime. When an unjustly imprisoned barber returns to London, he is consumed by the desire for revenge on the corrupt judge who destroyed his life. As Todd's obsession spirals out of control, he drags everyone he touches down in to his darkness; the scope of his violence expands and no one is safe. Soon, his resourceful partner-in-crime has more than enough meat to serve the crowds of customers dying to know her recipe's new secret ingredients. In the end, who will survive? How will they live with the nightmares they have witnessed? This reenvisioning of the infamous tale explores the insanity that lies just below the surface.....

Sweeney Todd is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

This staging of Sweeney Todd will re-establish the show within Fogg's Asylum; the patients and inmates of the institution will transform into the nightmarish memories that are haunting the story's tragic survivors. The production seeks a diverse group of performers willing to explore and create a new telling of Sondheim's masterpiece. Although several iconic performances are associated with Sweeney Todd, actors will be asked to discover choices and characterizations unique to their own role.
